Bullying at school
Stakset grew up in an ordinary family in the suburbs of Stockholm. But unfortunately he was bullied during some of his school years and it hurt him inside so he became emotionless.
Criminality, guns, violence and drugs followed him and he had to spend a few years in prison. There he began to write texts that described how he experienced society and his situation. Stakset’s lyrics and songs later made him a leading figure in the rap group “Kartellen” who made underground music.
Protective wall
Sometimes we humans can build an invisible protective wall around us so that we won’t be hurt more by others.
This is roughly what happened to Stakset. He had to deal with bullying and feelings of isolation and rejection at school. When his inner being was harmed, he built an invisible wall to protect himself and he started to display a hard and tough attitude outwardly.
There are other reasons for us to consciously or subconciously build protective walls within us such as when we experience tragedies like trauma, unfaithfulness, abuse and violence and so on. Feelings of failure or inadequacies can make us turn inward. This invisible protective wall is a bigger problem than most people realize. It often stops most things, it hinders warmth and love from reaching and healing our inner being so we continue to be broken inside.
Staksets salvation
Stakset wrote a threatening tweet on Twitter at Internet against the politician Jimmie Åkesson and was sentenced to dayfines. In 2013 Stakset was saved and it transformed him. He now felt loved and valued for the first time in his life. This transformation made him ask Jimmy for forgiveness for what Stakset had written on Twitter.
The change of Stakset’s life
When Stakset felt he was forgiven, warmth and love began to come through the invisible protective wall and change his life.
Everything that we have experienced in life has aided the building of the invisible protective wall that shields us from becoming more wounded. But when we experience or understand that we are forgiven, it is then we can relax and let love and warmth flow through the protective wall so that our inner healing can begin.

Stakset revisits his old school
Staksets pastor told him one day that he should go back to his old school yard in Bagarmossen where his life started to take the wrong direction – and where he became harmed emotionally by bullying. Stakset thought the pastor must have a loose screw or something since what happened at school didn’t affect him anymore.
But when they got to the school yard Stakset noticed that he began to feel ill and that there was something dark and hurtful inside him which he had tried to hide for many years.
The pastor said that he had to forgive those that hurt him so that he himself can be free to move on in life. Staksets first reaction was “me forgive? They need to be punished” But after talking about this with his pastor Stakset decided that he hadn’t anything to lose by forgiving them.
Power of forgiveness
When Stakset forgave people he started to cry, his inner being started to heal and he felt at peace.
That which happened can be compared to carrying around a load of stones in your back pack and every now and again some stones fall away from the back pack and the load lessens. It’s like this with forgiveness, we carry a lot of weight of unforgiveness with us and the more you forgive others the more free we become.
What’s also extremely important is that we must also forgive ourselves whatever the mistake we have made. Unfortunately we don’t have a time machine to go back and change what happened.
The only thing we can do is to forgive others and forgive ourselves and carry on walking in life.
Car accident was Stakset’s turning point
Sebastian Stakset tells us sometimes about his turning point in life. During the first 3 years of his Christian life it was like going on a roller coaster ride. Sometimes he had negative thoughts about the stupid things he had done and felt that he was beyond any hope. But when he drove a car one evening he heard a voice telling him to put on his seatbelt. Soon after doing that he was involved in a car crash but Stakset was unharmed in the accident.
This incident was a turning point in Staksets life – when he realized he is forgiven. The protection he felt in the car accident showed that God believed in Stakset, so Stakset decided to invest in God. Every mistake he has done is forgiven. The past is the past and it can stay there.
Living water
God did not just show mercy and forgiveness to the woman at Jacob’s well in Sychar. When God told the woman about the opportunity of being able to have living water flowing within us she wanted it.
This is what happens when we experience forgiveness. We experience reconciliation and this living water begins to flow within us and heals our broken hearts bit by bit. When we experience that we are forgiven then it’s easier to forgive those that have hurt us. This is the beginning of a vital process.
The life of Stakset
Staksets life has been transformed by his experience of being forgiven. He could now begin to forgive others. Stakset now helps others by running a charity “House of Mercy” at Östervåla in Sweden for young women over 20 years old.
